Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. She is now known by her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. As a child in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. At an Maryland high school competition at the beginning of her training, she was awarded the title for the best actress. After her experience in the theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first big role. The film was later followed by movies like "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". Soul Food was an immensely loved TV show. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria from the time she was seven years old, had a lot of knowledge about world cultures and traveling even at a very young age. After attending boarding school during seven years of London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she spent most of her youth as well as her early years of adulthood. Contractor studied and became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts which focuses on dance and theater. At 16 and after more than 10 years of dancing Contractor realized she wanted to study acting professionally. When she graduated from high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at The University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles following her one year stay at University. The audition was held for the part at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of Pericles. She was given the chance to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory, which accepts only eight men and four women to take a course in traditional theater. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor got a confirmed place for the next season, and was offered the part as Hermia.
